Summary
Alexis, a knight celebrated as a "hero" for his achievements in war, is granted the title of Marquis. By the royal family's arrangement, he is to take a fiancée. Having no interest in love, he desires a "white marriage" (a platonic, in-name-only union) and chooses the notoriously ill-natured Duke's daughter, Liserotte, as his bride-to-be. However, upon meeting her, he discovers the rumors are far from the truth—she is a kinder and more sincere woman than anyone. As the two gradually grow closer, Alexis one day visits Liserotte and witnesses an utterly unexpected scene. This is the doting love story woven by a knight who knew nothing of love and an oppressed young lady.
